Costa Rica Hot Springs

Hot springs in Pérez Zeledón:  These hot springs are located in San Gerardo of Rivas. To get there, travel from San Isidro de Pérez Zeledón towards Mount Chirripó, in the center of San Gerardo of Rivas, just before the bridge, the road veers left. (do not cross the bridge, turn to the left) on this small paved highway, look for a small parking area on the left side; it is close to the entrance to the hot springs. On the right side of the street there is a small path where you will need to cross a river and then start up the mountain. After about 500 meters, you will arrive at a house and the entrance office to the hot springs. The entrance fee is about $1.

Hot springs near Hotels: Hotel Pelícano, and Talamanca Reserve. You can find details in the Hotels Section.

The hot springs owners have built a couple of pools and the hot water is pumped in with a thick hose, that forms a small waterfall into the hot water hot springs water in San Gerardo, Rivas, Perez Zeledon pool which you can sit under for a nice relaxing massage. The hot water is very clean and the family takes great care in keeping the pools clean (as well as the restrooms). In the hot springs area are four dressing rooms and many rocks where you can eat a picnic lunch.

On the trip to the hot springs, you will have many opportunities to take pictures of the river, which crosses a swinging bridge, the family's gardens or a panoramic view of the mountains. The family also has a small store where you can buy lunch, drinks and snacks.

And if you watch carefully in the river aside the way to the hot springs, there are a little hot water spots.

Hot springs in San Vito:

Hot Springs in San Vito costa rica In San Vito de Coto Brus there are a wild area with nice hot springs, they are located in Aguas Calientes de Coto Brus. To get there: Once in San Vito de Coto Brus, turn at Aguas Calientes (about 24 km). There are several roads, but take the nearest one towards  La Libertad. The entrance to the hot springs is 100m to the right of the bridge over the Río Cotón.

That hot springs area is a very beautiful tourist destination, surrounded by unspoiled forest. The hot water pool lies alongside the river, and is naturally heated. The hottest spot seems to be right in the center of the pool. This is still a somewhat “undiscovered” place (at least when we visited them in January 2005) and you will not find stores or restaurants in the hot springs area, but you will find peace and quiet, and like me, you will find yourself saying “Ah, this is the life!”

Welcome to Costa Rica!, come and enjoy the best of the hot springs in middle the nature.
