Whale and Dolphin Watching

Where?: The whole area around the Osa Peninsula, Drake Bay, Golfo Dulce, especially in the Ballena National Park, which got its name due to all the whales that visit the area.

What to do?: The observation of dolphins and whales, to hear the song of the whales, to observe sea turtles, to observe manta rays and birds. If you stay until dark, you will also be able to see the water illuminated by phosphorous organisms. Especially beautiful during a full moon!

When traveling in a boat, one can enjoy the company of playful dolphins jumping along the side of the boat as it speeds along. It is also a truly magnificent experience to encounter a huge whale with its calf, in the calm waters of Golfo Dulce. This is one of the most popular ecological tours, due to the scenic beauty of the ocean and the unique experience of coming face to face with these gigantic mammals.

When you arrive here,  you will find many people offering guided tours for whale watching, to observe all kinds of marine wildlife and to take some unforgettable pictures. The observation area goes from the tip of Punta Uvita, Ballena National Park, and covers the whole area surrounding Golfo Dulce.
