The 80 to 83°F water temperature assures a constant and considerable quantity of big fish such as tuna, bass, red snapper, roosterfish, swordfish, barracudas, and mackerel. The best season for fishing is between December and May.

In the rivers you will find fish such as: guapote, tilapia, trout, machin, roncadore, chupapiedra, mojarra, bearded, flat, among others. Of these, machaca is the most flavorful, although if it is not mature, it will have many spines. In the outlets of the rivers, the size and variety of the fish increases, like the bass and red snapper, which  also have a very good flavor.

The most commonly used baits are pieces of chicken, earthworms, ripe banana or other fruits. But when Fishing in the rivers, such as at the mouth of the Térraba River or in the Sierpe River, it is better to use live bait.
