PLAYA VENTANAS

Getting there: it is located about 33 km south of Dominical.

What to do: body surfing, boogie boarding, fishing off shore, camping, kayaking, swimming in the ocean, observation of birds and wildlife.

Activities that are prohibited: swimming where the lifeguards indicate that it is dangerous, throwing garbage on the beach or in the streets. The maximum speed limit in town is 25 km/h. Driving of motor vehicles is prohibited on the beach (according to law of traffic #7331). Hunting or the abuse or pursuit of wild animals such as garrobos, iguanas, birds, as well as fishing with poison is also prohibited. Bonfires are also restricted as much of the firewood is home to many creatures.

This is one of the best private beaches in the area; private in the sense that it is not visited by a lot of people, which is due to it's accessibility, since it is necessary to leave your car some 300m from the beach and walk down a path. Even so, it is well worth the effort when you reach this exquisitely beautiful beach. Surrounded by mountains, and large rocks that reveal caves at low tide, Playa Ventanas is one of the prettiest beaches in the area. The ocean here is very calm with small waves and is a perfect place to take the family swimming. You can also go fishing off of the rocks.
