Puerto Jimenez Info
Puerto Jimenez is the gateway to Osa and the nearest location to Rio Nuevo (25 minutes away), situated on the harbor facing the Golfo Dulce in southern Costa Rica. It was known in the past for gold mining, which created an increased settlement. This particular characteristic, as well as a logging industry made Puerto Jimenez an important small town with easy access. It has a small hospital and lots of grocery stores, businesses that sell hardware and building supplies, restaurants, shops, cabins and hotels. The entire population is about 7000, with approximately 250 foreigners, mostly Americans living here at least part of the year. Electricity, telephone, e-mail, fax and Internet are also available in this town. With an airport with daily commuter flights from San Jose, you can get here in just 55 minutes, or you can choose one of the two buses running to and from the capital.
