The Southern Pacific Beaches of Costa Rica

The Beaches on the southern pacific coast of Costa Rica have distinctive characteristics: they have calm water, with small waves, and are surrounded by vegetation (palms, coconut trees, almond trees) and animals (the iguanas and the birds are plentiful), besides being beautiful places for rest and relaxation.

Most of the Beaches are just a short drive to anyone of the cities in the southern area. Famous Beaches, such as Playa Dominical, are a surfer’s paradise. Playa Pavones boasts the second longest left wave in the world. Visit Playa Ventanas known for its scenic beauty or the Ballena National Park that is a protected area for marine life such as whales, fish, corals, lobsters and others. There are many lodging options at any of these Beaches as well as tours and activities.
