QUETZAL watching tour

In Los Lagos Lodge you could find the famous Quetzal Watching Tour, (pharomachrus mocinno).

The male Quetzal including the tail is 64 cm, is one of the most beautiful birds of Costa Rica, Quetzal Females and juveniles have no crest, but have tails with Barrett's distinctive gray breast.

San Gerardo de Dota is given Quetzal observation because they prefer very wet montane forests laden with epiphytes, and feed on Lauraceae as Aguacatillo that abound in our forests.

San Gerardo de Dota there is a 90% chance that you actually see a Quetzal at any time of year.

The tour will be performed in any season, we have expert guides to help you identify not only the Quetzal, but all the variety of animals and plants you observe.

We recommend you bring water, comfortable shoes and binoculars.
