Cataratas Nauyaca is a Costa Rican family business which has for years led horseback riding tours through a farm which borders 2 impressive waterfalls. These are considered to be the largest, and the most beautiful in Costa Rica, and which are the principal attraction for thousands of national and international tourists. We guarantee that your visit here will be filled with the satisfaction of seeing an area which contains great natural beauty, and also because of the unforgetable activities you can enjoy, such as: horseback riding tours, swimming in natural pools, climbing the waterfalls, diving into the deep cool waters, and sharing the history of the area with well trained guides.

SERVICES:

We offer transportation service from the hotels of Dominical at the cost of $5.00 per person. We also offer parking, horse rentals, guides, breakfast and lunch, and rubber caps and boots ( in the winter season).

TOUR DESCRIPTION:

The tour starts off at the office and continues on horseback with one or more guides. (depending on the size of the group). After approximately 50 minutes, we will make a stop at the home of Don Lulo, where you will be able to order breakfast, to relax for a few minutes, or to observe the animals at a mini-zoo which the family owns. We will then travel another Nauyaca Waterfalls, Perez Zeledon 15 minutes until we arrive at the waterfalls, where we will will spend approximately 1 to 1 1/2 hours. After the time at the falls, we will return to the home of Don Lulo, where we will enjoy a delicious Costa Rican style lunch. (cooked over firewood) After lunch we will continue back to where we started our unforgettable adventure.
We begin at 8:00 a.m. with a welcome and a guide presentation.
We leave between 8:20 and 8:30 am.
Breakfast from 9:00 to 9:30 am.
Time at the waterfalls from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Lunch from 12:50 to 1:40 pm.
Trip ends between 2:20 and 3:00pm.

DESCRIPTION OF THE WATERFALLS

2 majestic falls of 20 and 40 meters in height, which empty into a crystalline pool with a surface area of 1000 meters squared and 6 meters deep, and which are surrounded by virgin mountains, secondary forest, and a fork of the Barucito river which measures between 50-80 meters wide

LOCATION:

Costa Rica, a country which is part of the American continent, and specifically in Central America, is only a 2 1/2 hour flight from Miami, Florida. Once in Costa Rica, there are 2 options in order to find our location

1. From the capital city of San Jose, you take the southbound Interamericana Highway, crossing through the mountains to the city of San Isidro Del General, which is approximately 136 kilometers from San Jose. You then take veer left on the highway that goes towards Dominical. You will then travel 26 kilometers more until you reach our office, which is on the left side of the highway in a community called Platanillo de Pérez Zeledón. The entire trip will take approximately 3 1/2 hours in a car.

2. There are various routes that lead from San Jose to the Pacific ocean. You can take any one of these until you reach the coast highway heading south. Once on this highway, you will need to head towards the city of Quepos and then straight ahead to Dominical beach. Just a few kilometers from San Jose, veer left and continue 10 kilometers until you reach our office on the right side of the highway. This route is longer, and between Quepos and Dominical, the road is not paved. The advantage of the coast route is that you can take a few extra days to see many beautiful tourist areas.

MISCELLANEOUS:

1- Cataratas Nauyaca operates daily, except Sunday, as well as December 24th and 25th and New Years Day.
2- All children over the age of 4 may ride our horses alone, as our horses are extremely gentle. Our guides will show special attention to children and the elderly.
3- We have tours during summer and winter.
4- The tour requires a minimum of 2 persons and a maximum of 35 persons.
5- Our tours require an advance reservation.
6- Long pants and closed shoes are recommended.
7- We do not accept credit cards or travelers checks.
8- In order to live this unforgetable adventure, you must weigh 250 lbs or less, or we will not be able to have you on our tour.

10- Breakfast includes: coffee, soft drinks, corn and cheese tortas, home made bread, fresh fruit (papayas, pineapples, bananas, or other seasonal fruit)
