The Talamanca Reserve is located
in San Gerardo de Rivas, Pérez Zeledón, which is approximately 17 kilometers
from San Isidro de El General, Pérez Zeledón, and approximately 135 kilometers
south of the capital, San José.
You head south on the Inter American Highway. Car rentals are plentiful in
San Jose, or you can take a bus from San José. The Musoc or Tracopa Bus lines
are both available daily. Taxis from San Isidro to San Gerardo are approximately
$15.00.

Over 4000 acres of tropical
forest in the mountains, at the foot of Central America's highest
mountain, Mt. Chirripó, and the Chirripó National Park, Costa
Rica. Comfortable, modern American style cabins; call for reservations

The restaurant
and the Talamanca bar are open every day until 11:00 PM. In the
evening, sit around the fireplace and practice the friendly art
of conversation. We speak broken: Spanish, English, German, and
French; if it ain't broken, we don't speak it!
By the way, evenings are cool here in the mountains; bring a sweater.

Things To Do:
Miles of paths, guided tours to water falls,
orchids, bromeliads, and ageless forests. Hike or rent automatic
shift deluxe ATVs to make a mountain walk a dream. Birds, ferns,
animals, orchids; come see for yourself!

Tours:
1. ATV tours:
Our ATVs are new, automatic and very easy to use. Professional guides
will be with you at all times. You will be able to see the rain
forest and beautiful water falls. From teenagers to eighty year
olds, your age is not a problem. Guides will give you the simple
instructions and in just a few minutes you will be on your way.
2. Walking tours:
Fun for the people who like to walk. We have many different trails
that will take you to various waterfalls and you will see an extraordinary
variety of flora ( hugh old growth trees, new growth trees, bromeliads,
ferns, and orchids). Birds and butterflies are abundant and occasionally
you may see wild pigs, goats, or other strange animals, such as
white face monkeys, or maybe howler monkeys. It's always exciting
to see a wild animal in its natural habitat. We may not always know
the name of the species, but we will try to give you the true name.

3.Hot water springs tour:
Surrounded by nature, coming right out of the earth are healthy,
healing thermal waters. Just the right temperature for an invigorating
hot water bath.
Did you know that it is estimated that Costa Rica has over 5,000
species of butterflies and 30,000 varieties of orchids?
All guests have free access to the
paths inside the Reserve (without extra charge).

Accomodations
Your visit to the cloud forest may surprise you, for the altitude
determines the temperature. The Talamanca Reserve is approximately
2,500 feet above sea level, so it could be cool at night, and
as we mentioned, bring a sweater.

are miles and miles of inexplicable beauty. Walking tours, or
ATV tours are available. The ATV’s are new, automatic, and very
easy to use. Guides will be with you at all times on the ATV
trails, or you can hoof it through the paths with a guide. And
of course, there is always the National Park, Chirripó, for
hiking. (the starting path is just about 1 kilometer from our
gate). Advance reservations are necessary. Natural thermal baths
available in the area.
Ten modern efficient cabins, all with private bath, hot water,
double and single beds and telephone. The cabins are set in
a beautiful garden area and are very private.
Rates are (double occupancy):
*$69.00 for the TalamancaGarden cabins.
*$79.00 for the upgraded Riverside Garden cabins.
*$l50.00 (up to four occupants) for the cabin suite at the Riverside
Garden area.
ALL RATES INCLUDE BREAKFAST, INTERNET ACCESS AND TV AT THE RESTAURANT.
Telephone service is also available in all cabins.
*10% discount for one week stay.
*15% discount for two weeks or more.
*All prices plus taxes (16.39%).

Restaurant
The restaurant is very attractive,large but comfortable.
There is a quaint bar, lounge and a fireplace. Books and magazines
in English and French are available. From the second floor of
this beautiful restaurant, one can look out over the mountains
for miles of unbelievable beauty (as if the gardens surrounding
the restaurant aren't enough). The cuisine is international and
the finest in the area, prepared by professional chefs (who by
the way are comfortable in English and of course their native
tongue Spanish). The restaurant and the Talamanca bar are open
every day until 11:00 PM.
