La Choza del Manglar has 10 beautiful cabins, located within a beautiful, private garden. Other than a few other hotel guests, your only visitors will be local inhabitants such as monkeys, iguanas, parrots, toucans, scarlet macaws and other exotic animal life. All our hotel rooms and cabins come with hot water, air conditioning, fans and screened windows.

Information

The first thing you should know about this site is that all of the photos of animals were taken on this beautiful property of approximately 4 acres located 400 meters from the beach in Puerto Jimenez, Peninsula de Osa, Costa Rica. You too will be able to see these animals in their natural environment. Bring your camera!!
The main town of the peninsula, "Puerto Jimenez", offers the infrastructure (bank, post office, telecommunications, airport, port and bus depot) necessary to engage in many different vacation pastimes as well as pursuing business interests.
All of "La Choza" was completely remodeled in early 2004. A couple of local artists have turned it into a living mural. You will not believe your eyes when you see what has been done here. A few months were dedicated to finishing this enormous mural. Definitely bring your camera.

Location

The "Peninsula de Osa" is located in the extreme southwestern corner of the country, directly west of "Golfito". It's home to the world renowned "Corcovado National Park" which contains approximately 3/5's of the peninsula's land mass. This is the largest remaining protected tract of "Pacific Coast Rainforest" left in the western hemisphere. The wildlife here is absolutely extraordinary, the plant life more diverse than you will find anywhere in the world, and the butterflies and birds will just blow you away. Some people tell us that they see more wildlife on the property than what they see visiting the national park system. "La Choza del Manglar" is located 125 meters west of the airport in Barrio Caledonia, Puerto Jimenez.

The original owners cultivated an extremely amicable relationship with the local animal population; so it comes as no surprise to return guests when they are delightfully entertained by local monkeys, raccoons, iguanas and a huge variety of birds such as toucans, scarlet macaws and parrots to name but just a few. These are guaranteed daily visits not just a once in a while possibility. The original owners sighted and listed the following local flora and fauna found on their property: 28 bird varieties, 12 mammal species, 18 butterflies types and 85 species of plants. The new caretakers of this paradise are dedicated to maintaining a long term mutually beneficial relationships with the local fauna.
